Stuff Every Man Wants Or Thinks He Wants
Whether he's a cowboy riding the open range or a CPA stuck behind a desk, there are things have all men want to have. It's irrelevant whether or not it's practical or useful, if he doesn't have it, he wants it. What are the things every man wants and why do they want to have them?
There are a few men who are lucky enough to be able to afford anything their hearts desire. If they can't decide between two luxury items, they simply buy them both. When they're out looking for a new car and can't decide whether to buy a sports car or a Mercedes, they just get one of each. Even if he lives in Iowa, a rich man will buy a yacht.
The rich are a good example of how often we only think we want things. Every conceivable luxury product is just wish fulfillment for those who can afford it. The yacht that could sail around the world is lucky if it sees the outside of a harbor. The sports car that can go 200 miles an hour rarely tops 70. The Harley that's made for cruising cross country is just taken for an occasion spin around town.
It's the same for all of us, rich or not so rich. Maybe only one dreadnought acoustic guitar out of a dozen ever gets to be played as it deserves to be played. The rest of them spend most of their time in the closet. Owning and playing a fine guitar is just about every man's dream. All men have their inner rock star who wants to get out.
Then there's the mountain bike. Other than a bicycle messenger, what man who lives in the city really needs all the gears you get on a Schwinn mountain bike? That doesn't stop them from being sold, though. Most of them are sold to men who dream about needing 24 gears. There's nothing wrong with that, though, especially if they take the bike out for a ride once in awhile. The important thing is not how badly you need the gears, but how nice it is to know they are there.
There's hardly a man alive who doesn't love the sound, the feel and the grunt of a chainsaw. However, do you really need a homelite chainsaw to cut a couple of small branches off a tree in your backyard? It doesn't matter. It gives a man a good excuse to buy a chainsaw.
Who is going to blame a guy for indulging his fantasies once in awhile? We all work hard and go through our day to day lives. It's a great feeling to just buy something that feels good to have once in awhile. It doesn't matter how often we actually use it. Sometimes, just having it is more than enough.

Metallica $10.28 Called "the Black Album" by many (due to its monochrome cover), Metallica marks the group's entrance into the mainstream, with shorter songs, simpler song structures, and slower tempos overall. That said, this is an excellent album, featuring some of the best songwriting Metallica has ever done. "Enter Sandman," "Wherever I May Roam," and "God That Failed," despite being slower and more groove-ori... |

The Very Best of Chicago: Only the Beginning $11.86 From the perspective of 15 subsequent platinum albums and 20 top-10 hits, it's hard to imagine that Chicago began their career as a bona fide prog-fusion act, an early FM radio favorite whose jazz-tinged, album-length suites found them a hip cult following even as they confounded label execs. Ironically, when the pioneering horn band (a contemporary of Blood, Sweat & Tears and inspiration for one-... |
