THE FOUR AGREEMENTS
In “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, he describes four important rules to implement or use in life by using the Toltec knowledge and practice. These four agreements have very entertaining the four agreements stories to help us in changing our lives for the better and reading them gives one an insight on how best to improve upon their lives . day in day out, we learn and experience new things which shapes us to be better or worse people which is why it is important to surround yourself with positive thinking more than negative thinking. Don Miguel Ruiz’s four agreements are;
• Be impeccable with your word
Being impeccable means to be held in the highest standard, meaning what you say is very important where life is concerned but although it sounds very easy, it is very difficult to implement. People that honor their word are respected and given due accordance wherever they find themselves and it takes great effort to be someone who means whatever you say no matter what. Also, avoid using your word against your word against yourself or others because it will only end up breeding hatred and dislike which is not healthy and will definitely come back to haunt you.
• Do not take anything personally
Taking life easy and taking everything around you calmly can be very annoying and difficult most times but can save you a lot of stress. When you get angry at something or someone, it takes so much strength from you which aren’t good for your health. If you have it in your mind that nothing anyone does is because of you or is your fault and you also bare it in mind that everyone is responsible for the decisions they take, you can slide through this smoothly. Taking what people say about you personally is agreeing with them. Learning and practicing the act of forgiveness is very important. When you avoid any form of negative emotion, it helps to make you feel good and when you feel good; it reflects in everything you do making you a total success.
• Do not make assumptions
As human beings, we tend to make assumptions about everything which is normal but very unhealthy. What will it profit you to assume someone wants to hurt you when the person does not even think about you? No matter what you do, you can never read the mind of people which is unless you are a physique but causing yourself unnecessary pain by wondering what people are thinking instead of planning on how to build a better life for yourself has always been and will always be useless. Also, practicing the habit of living in the present and not crying over spilt milk is also important.
• Always do your best
No matter what situation you find yourself in, it is always best to do the very best you can. Fully accomplishing your tasks gives you a kind of fulfillment that helps to paddle you through life and anyone that has the passion to always do things to their best is someone that is accepted everywhere.
