Neal Brown to open The Libertine (indystar)
Local chef Neal Brown, who closed his creative but pricey Broad Ripple
restaurant L'Explorateur in January 2009 and then opened the popular Carmel
pizzeria Pizzology in November of that year, is ready to launch another
concept. It's not another Pizzology location. Nor is it the cevicheria called
Tiger & Taco that Brown has hoped to open in the SoBro neighborhood. The man
certainly doesn't lack for ideas. But location is everything in the restaurant
biz, and Brown hasn't pinned down the right spot for the above concepts
(although stay tuned for news on Tiger & Taco). What he has done, however, is
lock in a prime downtown location for his new bar/restaurant called The
Libertine to be located at 38 E. Washington St. Judging from the drinks menu,
which features such classics as a dry martini, Pimm's cup, whiskey sour and
gin rickey, the joint will have a classic cocktail bar vibe, but with a
creative spin, said Brown. "We're pretty serious about the classics," he said,
