A little on the past of Witches

The great majority of witches today belong to the Wicca faith. The word 'witch ' springs from the old English word 'Wicce ' (meaning smart one) - and 'Wicca (meaning healer). Wicca is a group meaning harmony with nature. It is a modern pagan faith celebrating Earth and nature, begun in the 1940s. Wiccans celebrate 8 Sabbats or special days every year corresponding to seasonal changes or traditional harvest times.

Traditional witches were very talented in herbs and healing. Magick is more practical then ceremonial. Traditional witches do not believe in injuring. It's the responsibility of the witch the way the Magick is employed.

Traditional witches broomsticks were a depiction of spellbinding powers and used to sweep up the area were wizardry was to be performed. Witches employed the things to help go inside the woods and jump over streams So folks thought they were flying. Witches also utilized a knife called an Athame, it had been a double sided knife with often a black handle. Witches had wands that were considered part of the life force of the witch. They were made with hazel wood, silver, ebony or gold.

In times past accusations of witchcraft often came about as a way to keep a clever women from threatening male supremacy. They were also put upon someone who was a little out of normal. This is what occurred in Salem.

Are witches and magicians bad? The answer must be yes and no. Have a look through history to establish what the final answer may be. in past medieval times, the kings and queens sought out relief for illness from the local specialist, considered a witch. These ladies, had a tough knowledge of natural medicine and could heal people with their brews. As time went by the church set forth condemning these women that the term witch became synonymous with malignant.

Most principles of witches were deep rooted in mystical and religious powers. Folks started to become to believe that with all of these many things witches had powers beyond normal folk. They also started to believe that a witches power came from somewhere other then God. Witches after all could do all kinds of bizarre stuff, like turn themselves into felines - well, right? Moggies were believed to be spirits of the dead.

Halloween is a night to honor ancestors, celebrate the crop, and ring in the New Year occurring on the day of November 1st.
