The most unfavorable situation is seeing all three red lights. This is commonly known as the red ring of death. What this means is that your Xbox 360 gaming console has suffered from general hardware failure and that it can only be repaired if you ship it back to Microsoft.
Normally, people experience this problem while they are playing a game. The machine freezes up without any warning. The 3 rings of death will be seen after the console is shut down for a few hours then turned back on.

Although prevention is always better than getting your system repaired. Always try to keep your console cool and well ventilated to circumvent the feared red ring of death on you Xbox system. You need to remember that overheating cause damage on the hardware which causes the red ring of death. Do not put your Xbox console on a display case. Rather, put it in a room that is well circulated or get a small fan and direct the wind at the machine while you are playing.
You should always use your Xbox system in an air conditioned or well circulated room. This will help in preventing overheating and hardware damage. Good ventilation is absolutely necessary to avoid the red ring of death.
