How To Teach Your Little Girl Potty Training Techniques
Potty training has been around since people started being people. Of course new trends come and go on the market these days, but when it comes down to it, teaching your little girl potty training methods doesn't have to be trendy or new age or anything fancy. You simply need to arm yourself with the basics, such as underwear and a potty, and a little girl who is ready for the next step in childhood development. Those three things are all you need to be successful at potty training a girl.
There is the "hugs and praise" approach to potty training. Each time your little girl uses the potty, give her praise by clapping and giving kisses. Don't forget to point out her accomplishments to friends and relatives, so they can fuss over her too. It is advantageous for a parent to start out with this approach and save the treat and toy rewards for any major hurdles your little girl may encounter along the way.
The cold-turkey underwear approach begins when you let your child pick out several pairs of pretty, big-girl underwear. Let her put on the underwear and let the accidents happen where they will. When she does have accidents, she will feel the discomfort much more quickly. If you're patient and understanding, then underwear is believed by many to be a better alternative to disposable training pants.
However, as approaches to potty training go, the no-mess disposable underpants approach is as good a place to begin as any. It starts when you switch her from regular diapers to these disposable underwear products. While she gets the hang of pulling them up and down like big girl pants, you will give encouragement as needed. Make sure to take her to the bathroom at regular intervals and ask her often if she has to go. Give her lots of praise when she makes it to the potty in time.
Teaching your little girl potty training methods such as how to wipe herself properly is one of the most important things you will need to do. Begin by explaining to her that she needs to move the toilet paper from front to back. This is especially important when she has a bowel movement to avoid spreading bacteria from her bowel to her urethra and vagina.
She will likely have a few accidents, but eventually she will eliminate into her potty. This is the best time to make a big fuss over her success. Reward her with a big girl treat, such as watching a video or getting an extra bedtime story to reinforce the idea that she has reached a significant milestone. Try not to make a big deal out of every single trip to the potty however, or she may start to feel self-conscious and nervous about all the big girl potty training attention. You will have your child potty trained in no time at all.
