Radical By David Platt

For example, he states that we are constantly allowing ourselves to dilute the true meaning of being a Christian because to fully follow Christ, we must be willing to give up anything and everything at any given time.
Platt introduces a theory where we have created an “American Jesus;” that allows us to indulge in the American dream while calling ourselves Christians.
To show what it truly means to be a follower of Christ, Platt often refers to several verses of Scripture, including Luke 9, in which Jesus requires his disciples to abandon everything for him which could include one’s family, career, and personal possessions.
At times while reading Radical, David comes across fairly harsh, but a deeper reflection will reveal startling truth. He does not ignore the fact that completely following Christ can be hard and not always enjoyable. David stresses that this kind of dedication is required to truly follow Jesus.
